Week 2 (slab done)

Hi all sorry for disapearing from blog for a while. Our block has finally been slabbed.

Have a look at the pics i have taken this afternoon. The lower lever is where our garage will be. And there will be steps into the house.

One thing that we re not happy about is the fence. There is a panel which has been dented and our neighbour has complaint as well .

Hope they will be responsible for the broken panel.

Further updates

Not much has happened since my last update. We have signed the tender/final build contract and we have also received bank approval for the build.

Next we only need to hear from the builder when council approve the plan. Should approval come through this month, they would probably start the excavation in October. Meaning 98 days from October 2012 our house will be ready. Finger crossed ++++.

We have visited the land last Sunday (16.09) , to ensure the pegs are still available. Since if builder can't find these pegs when they are onsite,it's gonna cost us almost $900, just to get surveyor to re-measure the land again.

We have found 3pegs so far ,  cant find the other one....

. According to Stockland's sales person normally builder only need 3 pegs. Hopefully the three pegs will be sufficient.

Here are picture of the land n yes we have got a fence on the left side since the neighbor has settled in recently.

And the color bond fence which we share with our neighbor cost us almost $900 just for the left side.

Color selection ( week 2)

We met the eighthomes'sales person again. Today is the 2nd time we meet her n it is also the day we finalised the color selection & quote.

Here is the picture of color selection we have selected.
Color we choose for internal & external of the house. And the facade of the hose **except the color will be different.
It is totally different to other builders we have inspected before. While customer normally need to visit their head office to select the colors.
EIGHTHOMES offer us 4 different packages which colors have been pre-selected by their interior designer. For customer like me n my husband, we don't mind this method , since we believe it is more convenient.

So basically we are waiting for them to contact us  to sign the tender / contract after they have received approval fron the developer.
And then they could start the build.
Really looking forward...
Cheers

Glass or tiles Splash back for your kitchen?

Which one would you choose , tiles or glass splash back? Obviously the glass splash back is much more expensive? Would it be worth it if I upgrade to glass splashback for my kitchen?

Please share your experience with either one of them. Thank you Guys.

The floor plan We choose

We decided something still within our budget and we sort of like the floor plan from S.Seven.1. This is just right to fit on our 16 X 32 m2 block of land.

I just checked again on the 8homes website today they have extended their "welcome pack promotion by another week". Sometimes we really hope that we rush for something that really worth it. So if you have not made your mind. never really rush since promotion is always available. And if you can't get it from one builder, go and hunt from other who could offer you something best for you.

And the time frame is within 8 weeks to complete all the paper work, finance, design , colors and submit the final  plan  before they start the 88 days construction.

So we are hoping in March 2013 will be the day that we are looking forward to.

I really hope the product they deliver turn out as good as their promises and their display house.

Bought the Land

Hi All.

My husband and I had bought a land in the North Area, far far away from where I live now that I  called it as jungle. :)We bought the land since officially in March 2012, but we reserved the land since Oct 2011. Here are pictures taken last year.

We went back last week 10th Aug and were surprised that so many houses has been completed in that area. Woolies is officially available just around the block. It is so nice to be able to see the development of the village & of course we are looking forward to our own first home too.

We decided to build with a builder called Eight Homes (www.8homes.com.au). We found them when we visited display houses in Tarneit - VIC. Until we saw their welcome pack promotion which include the driveway & landscaping which is last until last Sunday 11th Aug 2012. We then visited their display house in Cranbourne West/ North, not sure exactly since I am not good with directions. And since we like the design and the quality of their display we decided to pay the deposit on the same visit.

Hence I am so looking forward to update you the progress of the building. I hope it will be smooth and interesting journey towards the completion. We are hoping to move in March 2013 ( next year).

And I also found this web page : http://www.anewhouse.com.au/?cat=26, which I believe will be useful as a guide for those first time building a house like us.

Cheers
